“ICULO LAMI” is Mpumi’s latest EP, a heartfelt and spiritually infused project that blends Afro-soul, house, and gospel-inspired melodies into a warm, uplifting listening experience. Known for her powerful, emotive voice and her ability to channel deep emotion through music, Mpumi uses this project to reflect on love, gratitude, resilience, and faith.
Mpumi recently appeared on Xikwembu featuring BlaQRhythm and Kenza.
The title, ICULO LAMI (meaning “My Song” in isiZulu), hints at the project’s personal nature. Each track feels like a chapter from Mpumi’s life — a mix of testimony, celebration, and encouragement to listeners navigating their own journeys. Her lyrics are rich with affirmations, prayers, and poetic reflections, creating a strong emotional connection with the audience.
Musically, the EP sits at the intersection of soulful house and modern Afro-pop, with lush harmonies, layered percussion, and warm basslines anchoring her soaring vocals. There’s a balance between mellow, introspective tracks and high-energy, danceable cuts, making the EP versatile for both quiet moments of reflection and vibrant celebrations.
