Uncle Waffles loses the BET award to the Nigerian star, Burna Boy.
The Swaziland-born DJ was nominated for the Best International Act at the 2023 edition of the Black Entertainment Awards, BET.
Other nominees included Burna Boy, Aya Nakamura, Ayra Starr, Central Cee, Ella Mai, K.O, L7nnon, Stormzy, and Tiakola.
However, Burna wasn’t at the show to receive the award, but his mother, Bose Ogulu walked up to the stage to accept the award.
Uncle Waffles was present at the show, and news about her loss has taken over SA Twitter following weeks of dragging her for representing Swaziland instead of South Africa.
Lmao this Uncle Waffles situation is dusting me bec she did this to herself unfortunately. Congratulations to Burna Boy btw.

There was no way uncle waffles was gonna win when the whole Nigeria is voting and in Swaziland only the king’s children are allowed to vote. pic.twitter.com/A6wIcF7vkX

I really think Uncle Waffles was gonna win that BET Award if she didn’t deny South Africans and said she’s from Swaziland.
