Langa is a massive 21-track gqom album lasting over two hours — one of Mr Thela’s most ambitious releases. It mixes the raw club energy he’s known for with more melodic and emotional shades.
Mr Thela, DJ Tira and Que DJ recently appeared on Emjondolo featuring Captain and Rhass.
The project explores pounding drums, rolling basslines, dramatic chord progressions, and occasional gospel-influenced touches. With its length, it moves between explosive, high-intensity tracks and more reflective, atmospheric moments.
The title references both “sun/day” in Nguni languages and the Cape Town township of Langa — giving the album themes of heritage, brightness, and personal grounding.
