Megacy rejects plan to remix AKA’s hit song
The late South African rapper AKA may soon find his name back on the charts, as his team recently hinted at remixing one of his tracks.
Posting from the rapper’s official X account, the team asked fans, known as the Megacy, to suggest artists who should feature on a remix of Mbuzi.
The post read: “Megacy …. Should we cook up Mbuzi Remix? Tag the rappers you would like to see jump on the track!”
However, the reaction was far from enthusiastic.
Many fans urged the team to scrap the idea altogether, saying it would be disrespectful to alter AKA’s work without his involvement.
One fan wrote: “No.. respect Supa Mega, it shouldn’t happen without him. Doesn’t he have unfinished songs that artists can complete for him? That’ll be better.”
Others suggested that instead of a remix, the focus should be on visuals and unseen footage of the rapper.
“No remix, just give us music videos for some songs on the album with random never seen before footage of Mega… I think that’s the closure we deserve as the Megacy,” another supporter commented.
Some fans even appealed directly to AKA’s father, Tony Forbes, who many believe runs the account to let the page rest.
One tweet read: “Let the account rest, come on now Tony.”
