
Tebogo Mashego stranded in Nigeria
South African musician Tebogo Mashego, best known for his viral hit Biri Marung, has left fans shocked after revealing that he is stranded in Nigeria with no money.
The artist, who rose to fame when doctors and school choirs danced to his chart-topping single, appeared in a tearful video that circulated on X on Friday, 19 September 2025.
In the clip, Mashego said his team abandoned him and refused to pay him, leaving him desperate for financial assistance.
“Life is difficult. I told them that I don’t wanna come to Nigeria. Please help so I can come back home,” he pleaded.
The video quickly went viral, with South Africans flooding social media with mixed reactions.
While some sympathized with the singer’s plight, others responded with humor and disbelief.
@Sabelostormz wrote: “We don’t feel any remorse for anyone going to Nigeria; everyone knows that’s not a country. But you still get tricked into going there?”
Another user, @madamkimberlly, commented: “ I’m not laughing, this is serious, mara, (but) you can’t trust bo IBU ka (in) 2025 bathong.”
