Drake praises Kelvin Momo on global stage
Kelvin Momo’s global rise just reached new heights after international rap icon Drake gave him a powerful co-sign during his performance at Wireless Festival 2025.
The Canadian superstar paused mid-show to shine a spotlight on the South African Amapiano maestro, thrilling fans with both his words and a surprise remix.
During his set on Saturday, 12 July, Drake took a moment to acknowledge Momo’s influence, crediting him for flipping his RnB-meets-dancehall hit Controlla into a soulful Amapiano version.
“I hope you enjoy it. Shout out to Kelvin Momo, he helped me flip this tonight,” Drake told the crowd, igniting excitement among music lovers and fans of the genre.
While it remains unclear whether an official collaboration is in the works, the unexpected tribute sent social media into a frenzy, with clips of the moment going viral.
Fans praised the potential fusion between Drake’s signature sound and Momo’s smooth, emotive style, often referred to as “private school Amapiano.”

This isn’t the first time the Hold On, We’re Going Home hitmaker has shown admiration for Momo.
Back in 2023, Drake slid into the producer’s DMs, leaving a message that left Momo stunned
“You, my friend, are from another planet. Listening to you is like a religious experience.”
Momo, overwhelmed with gratitude, posted a screenshot of the message, writing: “Waking up to such… speechless! Le re nna ke etsa hanyani, Jokes aside. Getting a DM from Drake means a lot. I don’t even know what to say but am grateful man.”
