Amapiano rising star LeeMcKrazy is lucky to be alive after a shocking hijack attempt in Johannesburg left him briefly hospitalised.

The 22-year-old musician, real name Linda Mnisi, was reportedly targeted outside Cosmopolitan nightclub in Maboneng shortly after wrapping up a performance.

According to a close friend who spoke to Buzz Life News, the night started off on a high note.

LeeMcKrazy had just delivered an electrifying set and was seated in a parked car with three others when things took a frightening turn.

One of the group members stepped out of the vehicle to retrieve something from inside the venue, and that’s when five unknown men pounced.

“One of the guys opened the door to the car, and about five guys came and pepper-sprayed everyone,” the friend revealed.

“They poured some type of acid and pepper-sprayed Leemckrazy.”

Though the substance used wasn’t confirmed, it was potent enough to send the Kokotela hitmaker straight to the hospital, where he received emergency treatment for eye irritation.

“They said, had he waited longer, there was a chance he could have been seriously injured,” the friend added.

Strangely, the attackers fled moments after realising who their victim was.

“When they recognised it was him, they ran off,” the source claimed.

While the incident left him shaken, LeeMcKrazy has since bounced back.

He’s currently overseas performing in Poland alongside Scotts Maphuma, and recently updated fans via Instagram: “I’m working, all is good.”

No police case has been opened in connection with the alleged incident, but the artist’s camp confirmed that he took some time off to recover and is simply “happy to be alive and safe.”
