“Nguni Tales” by Sobzeen is a deeply personal 16-track album that blends Amapiano, Afro House and 3-Step into a rich musical narrative rooted in African identity. Rather than simply functioning as a collection of dance tracks, the project feels like a musical diary, exploring faith, love, heartbreak, resilience, relationships and the lessons that come with personal growth.
Ace Shaun, Deep London and Sobzeen recently appeared on Nguwe featuring Mthandazo Gatya.
The album features an impressive range of collaborators, including Zama Nkosi, Ssips, Born Kxng, UDUBE, Banzy Slangwe, Bassie, Olley RSA, Soul Expression, DUALITY, AurabonicRSA, Shuni Wenkani, Beekay Monalayzzar, Abo Mvelo, NtoMusica, Nele SA, Philharmonic, Deejay Hoodie and WalkMaTall. Tracks such as “Amasango,” “Ngifuna Lo,” “Amathuba,” “Jikelele,” “Buyisa,” “Bazali Bami” and “Nguwe” allow Sobzeen to move between energetic grooves and more emotional, reflective moments.
Overall, “Nguni Tales” is an expansive and emotionally rich South African album that connects contemporary dance music with personal storytelling and cultural identity. It feels equally at home in a deep DJ set, a long drive or a focused listening session, with Sobzeen using rhythm and melody to turn personal experiences into stories that feel widely relatable.
