Judith Sephuma’s Iya Iyo (Remixes) is a four-track project that gives her iconic Afro-jazz classic a fresh contemporary identity. Released on 21 August 2026, the project celebrates 25 years of A Cry, A Smile, A Dance and features three new interpretations alongside the original recording.
Judith Sephuma, Stixx recently appeared on Iya Iyo (Stixx Remix).
The project brings together Stixx, Shazmicsoul, and C-Blak, with each producer approaching Iya Iyo from a different angle. Stixx places the song in an Amapiano pocket while retaining its jazz influence, Shazmicsoul gives it a more urban contemporary-house treatment, while C-Blak builds his version around Sephuma’s unmistakable vocals. Across the remixes, the sound moves between Amapiano grooves, deep house rhythms, Afro-house textures, warm percussion, melodic piano elements, and electronic production, while Judith’s original vocal performance remains the connecting thread.
Overall, Iya Iyo (Remixes) is more than a collection of dance remixes—it represents a meeting point between South African musical heritage and a younger generation of electronic producers. The project successfully preserves the soul of the original while giving Iya Iyo a fresh life on modern dancefloors.
