Amapiano musicians had an exciting year in 2021, as the genre did amazingly well, but the happiness was tainted with sadness.

A dark cloud hovered in the entertainment industry on the 9th of August, 2021, after the death of Mpura and Killer Kau was confirmed and announced on the internet.

People were divided over the validity of the news; is it true or just another rumor – Musicians and lovers of amapiano music found it difficult to digest the news.

The two Amapiano stars died in a fatal car accident alongside three other persons.

Their death was a huge loss to the Amapiano genre, as they blessed the genre with sizzling verses.

We still can’t get over Killer Kau’s adlibs, as he undoubtedly spiced the genre with his sonorous adlibs. He dropped songs like: Tholukuthi Hey and Koba.

Mpura on the other hand did magic on some hit songs delivered in 2020 – 2021, which include, Umsebenzi Wethu, Izolo.

Netizens celebrated the two stars even after their passing.

On Christmas day, Mpura trended on social media, as people were saddened at the fact that there will be no release from the singer in 2022, while others spoke highly of his contribution to the genre.

The Amapiano industry also lost a legend in 2020, DJ Papers 707, who is one of the pioneers of the genre; the DJ died due to Covid-19 complications.

Taking a brief look at 2020 and 2021, it’s gradually becoming a thing for the genre to loose the talented ones to death.

However, as we’re about crossing over to a new year, we hope not to have a record of any amapiano artist’s death in 2022.
