The undisputed king of Amapiano, Kabza de Small has entered the history of South African music with his latest album I Am The King of Amapiano: Sweet & Dust.
According to Apple Music, the album, released on June 26th is now the best performing South African album in terms of first week and first day on the streaming platform.
Kabza De Small’s album is the biggest local South African album first day and first week.” Says Karl Anderson, Apple Music’s head of Music Africa in a new press statement.
The Amapiano album was highly anticipated and got released at the peak of the sub-Kwaito music genre.
On competition with other Amapiano producers, Kabza recently made it clear that he never said he is better than anyone. “I never said I was better than anyone, I never lowered anyone for doing his best in the game. Never did I not listen when people asked for more good music from me. Anyone can say his a King, his the best that’s called believing in yourself and your craft. I won’t be apologetic for working hard and archiving what I’ve achieved, through the hard work I’ve put in so many years and I’m finally enjoying the fruits of success… People will always talk whether yo do good or bad, just don’t lose focus,”
The I Am The King of Amapiano: Sweet & Dust features the likes of Madumane (DJ Maphorisa), Nigerian musicians Wizkid and Davido, vocal sensations Nia Pearl, Bontle Smith, Blaq Boy music artiste Daliwonga among several other artistes.
